Cut-out dresses have been popping up everywhere. This week, Rachel Bilson sported this trend in a cut-out white dress. Rachel has always been one of my celebrity fashion icons, but I'm not a fan of this dress on her. The ruffles seem like they started off as a good idea, but ended up looking like a wrapped towel (and doing nothing for her shape). The corset structure adds to this cut-out dress looking like a bra (an uninteresting bra in white). All this together with the bedroom eyes and morning-after hair make an otherwise stunning woman look like she could use a venti cup of coffee.
Here's the list again as clean as I can make it:
- Tacky corset bralette - NO.
- Unflattering wrap-around babydoll
toweldraping - NO. - Overall structure - NO.
On the other hand, Demi Moore looked ravishing in her pink backless mini with a petite ruffle tail. The structure of the dress is modern sexy and sophisticated conservative. Additionally, the dress also works in subtle floral embellishments (which you all know I've been raving about) in bright peony tones. What a breath of fresh air for Spring!
List:
- Gorgeous figure flattering silhouette (includes back ruffles) - Yes.
- Surprise element: backless - Yes.
- Choice of color: feminine and fresh - Yes.
- (Floral embellishments - Yes!)
Stunning! What do you think?
