Napa Wine Tasting

I'm so excited.

My parents are visiting for the Fourth and I've already planned out (via Duffel) a long weekend of good eats, fresh seafood, and of course, wine tasting in Napa (um, ok, maybe all three activities fall under "consumption").

I heart Napa.  The scene is simply unbeatable and with all the Michelin star restaurants lining streets of Yountville, the experience is really a delight for all senses.  To compound my delight, this morning, Groupon offered a deal on wine tasting at the Honig Vineyard.  The deal is for wine tasting for four for $15 (traditionally, wine tasting runs from $10-$20 a person in Napa).  I am so excited about this deal, which includes five tastings for four (perfect!) at the beautiful five-star Honig Vineyard tasting room.   An yes, there's a table for you to sit down as opposed to stand elbow to elbow with everyone else.

I can't wait for Friday!

Balenciaga Anniversary Bags

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Balenciaga has teamed up with Neiman Marcus to offer a limited edition collection of six of it's "it" motorcycle bags.  Three of the designs are of the classic "City" and three are of "First".

As with all BBags, the excitement lies in its color palette.  And the finalists for the anniversary collection are Noir, Bronze and Bois de Rose.

So what's so special about this collection?

Unlike its peers (which has black cotton lining), this collection will have a special patterned lining!  Balenciaga has never done this before and to its fans, it'll be tempting not to pick one up.

The outer shell of the bag will have a hint of shimmer, helping it stand out from the collection's regular leather.  Handbags are available for pre-order on Neiman Marcus.  Prices start at $1,195, in line with their regular collection and not bad for a limited edition.

Lady in Red: Megan Fox

My favorite collection this year has been the Armani Prive collection (see collection here and celebrities in the collection here).  So naturally, when Megan Fox showed up to the premiere of Jonah Hex in a custom Armani Prive dress, I was beyond estatic.  The dress is short (score!) and red hot (literally!) -- an all out WIN in my book.

What was not so much a win, however, was her hair.  You know when you first learn how to curl your hair at home?  You forget to give your ends the one last wrap around or a final curl?  You end up with a bad DIY job.

Oh, when bad hair happens to good people... or in this case, happens again to good people.

Bieber Fever

Justin Bieber's new video premiered today and my. my. my: Bieber. Fever.

Justin can mooooove.  In fact, I've been so inspired that I've decided to make like Justin and be light on my feet always.  From this day on, I'm going to walk with a spring in my step, and skip and hop every other step.  I'm also going to start doing the bang swipe with my entire head.  This kid is COOL.

Oh, Usher, Beat Freaks and other crews also make an appearance.

Lastly, I think Justin should play the werewolf brother to Taylor Launter in Twilight.  They kind of look alike, don't they?

Naomi Watts in Roland Mouret

Naomi Watts looked stunning in Roland Mouret at the Tony Awards this past week.  

I am in love with the simplicity and the structure of the dress.  The strong shoulders add interest to an otherwise "boring" dress and the trumpet silhouette is to die for.  I love how her black belt and clutch lend a hint of nostalgia.

New Trend: Lace Panels

A lot of new trends have been showing up on the red carpet lately.  One that caught my and my sister's eyes was the lace panel look.

Jessica Biel wore this look to her A-Team premiere this week while Hayden Panettiere wore her lace panel dress to the CMT awards.  Although Jessica received more raves for her stunning dress at the premiere, I'm not yet a believer.  I'm uncertain about the draping of the white cloth across the chest (napkin-bid, anyone?); on the other hand, Hayden's tailored lace panel look was more of a hit in my book... though I'm not really sure this was the best dress for her body type.  Hmm.

I remember scouring for travelesque wedding invitations for our semi "destination" wedding last year.  Ironically, my refusal to settle for less than "unique" resulted in my mom pulling an all-night DIY session of generic everyday wedding invites (thanks mom).

Gucci Fall Winter 2010

Gucci came out with their Fall Winter 2010 collection today.  The palette is black, nude and red; some staple colors that have stuck with us throughout the last year.

What's exciting is that shoulder bags ("clutches") will be sticking around for a bit longer.  I'm a huge fan of these downsized shoulder bags since they're a nostalgically retro and hippie-ishly feminine.  They're also convenient.  As you've found out from my previous post, I can't trust myself not to lose anything that's not attached to me.

MTV Movie Awards

MTV movie awards were tonight and it seemed like everyone was in sequin and metallic.

Katy sported her blue wig, Kristen actually smiled (and looking adorable while at it), Lindsay... looked good from the neck up (what is she wearing!?) and Jessica looks like she just stepped out of the holiday choir.

UV Fashion Statements

California gets a lot of sun all year-round.  The balmy weather averages around the 70s with dips into the 50s during "winter" and peaks at 90s in the summer.  Given the amount of sun California receives, I started to notice a lot of Asian women wearing oversize visors.

Unlike a typical "hatted" visor, this visor is over thrice the size of a usual visor and made of anti-UV plastic.  Most importantly, the visor is attached to a hinge which makes it adjustable.  Visor wearing women often adjust these visors to a 90 degree downward angle in order to shield their entire face from the sun.  During the summer months, you'll see numerous women shopping, driving and going about their days wearing these visors like welding masks.  This is probably illegal inconvenient when it comes to bank errands.
